Frequently Asked Transfer Credit Questions

You may still have questions about transfer credit and how it works at Champlain College Online. Below are answers to some of the questions we are asked the most.

How does transfer credit work?

Following a student’s application submission, and before an offer of admission is presented, a transfer credit evaluation is performed on an individual basis. This includes a review of official transcripts from all higher education institutions attended. Champlain College’s transfer credit team will identify the program requirements that have been fulfilled on a course-by-course basis to determine transfer credit eligibility and the amount of eligible transfer credit.

How many credits can I transfer?

Students who transfer from another college may be awarded up to 45 credit hours toward an associate degree, and up to 90 hours toward a bachelor’s degree. In order to be considered for transfer credit at the undergraduate level, the grade equivalency of a transfer credit must be “C” or better.

Transfer credits at the graduate level are awarded on a strictly limited basis and the grade equivalency must be a “B” or better. Credits awarded for experiential or non-collegiate graduate-level learning may not exceed 25% for credentials between 12 and 30 credits.

What types of transfer credit are transferrable?
